Happy days are coming to us all now we are saying bye-bye to the winter months. Seeing the flowers poking through the ground is just so uplifting, isn’t it? Even buying a couple of bunches of daffs or tulips immediately brightens a room and can be placed in anything too. I currently have some daffodils in a pint glass.
Lots of wonderful pieces are arriving, china and ceramics from my suppliers as well as vintage pieces which blend so well together. A wonderful aroma is also filling the shop with the arrival of some new limited edition Peppermint Grove candles and diffusers. If you haven’t been in for a while do pop by and take a good look. I am not sure whether you are all aware that much of the furniture in the shop is for sale. There is currently a gorgeous two drawer chest of drawers and Ercol chair which have been upcycled and painted in the window right now.
Preloved clothing and accessories are gearing up for Spring now and as ever I am trying to accept unusual, colourful, and stand out from the crowd pieces. If you have items you wish to sell for commission, do not forget to contact me beforehand as an appointment is needed, please, plus we can discuss what you have to avoid any disappointment.
March is one of those months in the year when everything seems to be happening from Pancake Day on the 1st to Mothering Sunday on 27th and whilst I can’t cater for your pancakes F&R has plenty to offer for Mother’s Day gifts. I am personally looking forward to National Pie Day on 7th March. What’s your favourite pie? Mine must be beef steak pie. Savoury of course as no sweet stuff for me from 2nd March (7 and half weeks of no sugar Lent period begins)
Easter follows on shortly afterwards and stock is already selling fast online and will appear in the shop in the next few weeks. More is due so keep checking the website and in store. My favourite decorations so far must be the wool covered egg shaped frog and bunny. Who produces these designs?!
Plans are afoot to celebrate the Queens platinum jubilee in early June which I am hoping will include some events in the Old Town. My talented crafters are already busy making and collecting vintage inspired goodies to not only decorate the shop but to sell too, so if you re holding a party at home or in your street come in and see what we have. Expecting to be displaying pieces from early May.
Often customers will ask me where do I shop? Well, obviously I do buy rather a lot from F&R. I can never resist a nice pair of boots, a chunky knit or indeed a maxi dress or two for the summer months.
